Alex Bertaina – Venetian Reds

£2,480.00

Currently living and working in Cuneo, North West Italy, Alex says “Painting is for me this dreamed landscape [consisting of] vertical or horizontal cuts… superimposing interplays, dismantled and dense images that look like rainbow geometries full of light and colour, [reflecting] its vibrancy and brilliance”. A memory often arises in me when I come home. A picture where I see a pristine landscape in which prevails a diffused warm lighting that envelops everything. This desire to work in pristine landscapes, unspoiled by man has been with me since my childhood. I tried to create my own world in the jumble of scribbles made by my classmates. In my work I portray the tension and stress of modern living where nothing ever stands still and we are quickly overwhelmed by the frenzy of passing time. I do not surrender to it and I seek for purity in a contaminated place due to human intervention on the environment , where the profit was not able to defend the territory causing him serious injuries.

Description

Working with oil paint on canvas, Alex Bertaina’s characteristic style seems to capture a landscape viewed throughout time.  Criss-crossing shards of colour, light and shadow hint at the dynamic nature of each scene, throughout the changing seasons.  Despite his unusual position as a self taught artist, Bertaina has received global, critical acclaim and homage.

With a lifelong passion for creative expression, Alex reflects that “The child who tried to create a clean and tidy world from the jumble of scribbles made by his classmates has ended up increasing his passion as a painter.  Today, thanks to a constant and continuous commitment, I am known at world level for my Mediterranean landscapes, my Venetian paintings and for my snowy mountain views.  Maybe my dream within the deep of my soul is coming true”.
