Marco Araldi

I have both a diploma in architecture and a degree in mechanical engineering. I graduated in Milan before moving to London, where I now live. I have been working as an artist for the last eighteen years.

Technical drawing and geometrical applications in architecture, cartography and typography have given me my life’s navigational tools. Looking through a mathematical and geometric lens has helped me to deconstruct reality into simpler equations and graphs. This can be seen on a much larger scale with my Mappa Mundi (using Polar coordinates and triangulation).

I enjoy analyzing architectural and sculptural masterpieces and drawing them in fine detail. This is my way of looking into the minds of the architects, artists, and the time in which they were living, and the social requirements imposed on them, then comparing them to our contemporary situation.

Marco’s maps are made in ink, acrylic, watercolour and ink on canvas.
