April Young
April Young is an established British sculptor. She produces expressive, figurative pieces in a variety of materials including clay and foundry bronze.
Strong features of her work are the representation of movement and elements of the natural world. These can be seen in her sensitive, yet unsentimental studies of animals.
Her concepts are often enriched by her love of literature, folklore and mythology.
April has been commissioned to work in a number of materials and to various scales. The sizes range from small pieces of giftware for Border Fine Arts, up to life-sized bronze figures. These were created as a corporate commission for Morgan Stanley.
Her work is held in private collections in the UK, Ireland, Germany, Holland, the United States and New Zealand.
In addition to this, April’s work has been represented in galleries throughout England, Scotland and Ireland and also major regional Art Fairs such as AAF London, Art Ireland and Glasgow Art Fair.
April has participated in many mixed exhibitions including at the Royal Academy in Bristol.
A selection of her sculptures were most recently selected for the ‘Handmade in Britain’ Show which was held at the British Embassy in India, along with eight other artists
